Our Story

Jelani Consulting, Inc. was founded in 2008 by Meka Gerald Mofor, an accomplished Oracle Database Administrator and visionary educator. What began humbly in the living room of his home—and later in the basement—has grown into one of the most respected IT training and consulting firms in the broader DMV region. From the very beginning, Meka’s mission was clear: to repackage and empower individuals from all walks of life with the skills and confidence to succeed in the technology sector.

With more than a decade of professional experience, multiple Oracle certifications, and a track record of service with high-profile organizations such as the U.S. Census Bureau, the U.S. Department of State, and the Department of Homeland Security, Meka brings both expertise and passion to the work of training future technology leaders. His personal journey from practitioner to entrepreneur inspires every student who walks through Jelani Consulting’s doors.

Growth Through Vision and Community

As demand for skilled Database Administrators began to surge, Jelani Consulting quickly outgrew its home-based setting. By 2013, the company moved into a professional training facility in Greenbelt, Maryland, strategically located near the Marriott Hotel and Greenbelt Metro Station. This move marked a turning point, allowing Jelani Consulting to better serve its growing student body and expand its offerings.

Today, the company continues to thrive as a hub for IT training, consulting, and mentorship. Our flagship Oracle Database Administration program runs on a rigorous four-month curriculum, equipping students with real-world skills that translate directly into career opportunities. Already, dozens of our graduates have secured positions as Database Administrators, and many more are on the path to fulfilling, long-term careers in technology.
